Getting Here
Bedarra Island is located approximately 4 kilometres off the coast of tropical Far North Queensland, halfway between Cairns and Townsville.
Regular flights depart major Australian capital cities for Cairns with Qantas, Jetstar, and Virginblue. You can also compare flight prices via Webjet or Flightcentre.
From Cairns to Bedarra Island:
By Air
Hinterland Aviation operates the 45 minute flight from Cairns to Dunk Island twice daily. Private charter flights are also available upon request.
- Cairns to Dunk Island departs 12.15pm and 2.30pm daily.
- Dunk Island to Cairns departs 9.45am and 1.15pm daily.

Reservations will advise you of costs, transfer times and applicable luggage restrictions.
On your arrival to Dunk Island, there is a short transfer to a private charter boat for your trip to Bedarra Island (approx 20 minutes).
Private helicopter charter flights are available from Cairns to Bedarra Island upon request.
By Coach
Mission Beach Dunk Island Connections departs Cairns three times daily to Mission Beach.
Greyhound Bus and Premier Bus Service also run services from Cairns to Mission Beach.
From Mission Beach you will transfer to a private charter boat for your trip to Bedarra Island (approx 40 mins).
By Car
Sugarland Car Rentals, telephone 07.4052 1300 within Australia, hire cars from the Cairns Airport. It is approximately a two hour drive to Mission Beach through the cane fields and small towns of the tropical north. From Mission Beach you will transfer to a private charter boat for your trip to Bedarra Island (approx 40 mins).
Private Charter Boat
We can book the private charter boat for you once your travel arrangements are known. This cost is inclusive (for two people only) in your rental if you are travelling with Mission Beach Tropical Island Picnics (as pictured). There is a charge of $400 if an alternative private charter boat is used.
